Views:
  1. Remove the currently installed MARS agent from appwiz.cpl
  2. Delete following directories and reg keys after uninstalling MARS agent.
  • Reg Keys:

- HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Schedule\TaskCache\Tree\Microsoft\AutoUpdateAgent

- HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Schedule\TaskCache\Tree\Microsoft\OnlineBackup

- HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Features\C61D6EFF78F32914FA49DDEBFF611560

- HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\C61D6EFF78F32914FA49DDEBFF611560

- HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\UpgradeCodes\9E3CC81A48FC05646B4407520C8CC01D

- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{FFE6D16C-3F87-4192-AF94-DDBEFF165106}

  • Folders:

- C:\Windows\System32\Tasks\Microsoft\AutoUpdateAgent

- C:\Windows\System32\Tasks\Microsoft\OnlineBackup

Also ensure that the task scheduler does not contain any tasks under the following path, post uninstallation. If there are delete them as well:

- TaskSchedulerLibrary-> Microsoft -> AutoUpdateAgent

- TaskSchedulerLibrary-> Microsoft -> OnlineBackup

  1. Download the latest version from https://aka.ms/azurebackup_agent and install it as an administrator.
