If a subscription with a virtual provider is a parent in a bundle, a Microsoft Addon subscription will fail to provision if it is aligned to that parent, and not the correct Microsoft subscription.

For example:

Parent Subscription: ABC Company Bundle

  • Child subscriptions: Office 365 E5, Azure, Audio Conferencing, Domestic Calling Plan, and Phone System.

The Addon subscriptions: Audio Conferencing, Phone System, and Phone System Domestic Calling Plan will fail to provision because the defined parent subscription is ABC Company Bundle instead of Office 365 E5.

  • To correctly set up this bundle, the Addon subscriptions must have the Office 365 E5 subscription as the Parent.
  • Furthermore, the ‘Phone System: Domestic Calling’ addon should have ‘Phone System’ set as the Parent.

Therefore, in this scenario the bundle should be set up in this manner for the addons to successfully sync with the automatic provider:

Parent Subscription: ABC Company Bundle

  • Child Subscriptions: Office 365 E5, Microsoft Azure
    • Addon subscriptions to Office 365 E5: Audio Conferencing, Phone System
      • Addon subscription to Phone System: Phone System Domestic Calling plan.

In the scenario where there is no virtual (Do Nothing Provider) parent subscription, such as ABC Company Bundle like the previous example, then the bundle should be set up like this to successfully provision:

Parent subscription: Office 365 E5

  • Addon subscriptions to Office 365 E5: Audio Conferencing, Phone System
    • Addon subscription to Phone System: Phone System Domestic Calling plan.

Note: in a bundle scenario with Microsoft 365 E5 as the parent subscription, Microsoft 365 Phone System is included as part of the Microsoft 365 subscription and does not need to be provisioned separately. Thus, the Microsoft 365 Phone System Domestic calling plan will have the Microsoft 365 E5 as the parent subscription.

Parent Subscription: Microsoft 365 E5

  • Addon subscriptions to Microsoft 365 E5: Microsoft 365 Phone System Domestic calling plan
